Happy New Year! Have you all made your New Years resolutions by now? No one has broken those resolutions yet, right? Here at Richland, we continue to have great service as our resolution. That is, along with bringing requested services to our customers whenever we can also. Please let us know of any new services you would like in the new year. We have heard good comments about internet banking and we still offer debit cards and gift cards as well. We look forward to seeing all of you often in 2009.
Please note that FDIC Deposit Insurance has temporarily been increased to $250,000 per individual until December 31, 2009. This means that some accounts may be insured for substantial amounts. If you have questions about deposit insurance, please give us a call. The FDIC also has provided tools for consumers to use in determining insurance-visit fdic.gov and follow consumer links for more information.
In addition, Richland State Bank is participating in the FDIC's Transaction Account Guarantee Program. Under that program, through December 31, 2009, all noninterest-bearing transaction accounts are fully guaranteed by the FDIC for the entire amount in the account. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules.
As part of the Banking Demo on the left hand menu, also see the presentation regarding identity theft and "phishing". As more people become dependent on the internet, we remind everyone to be aware of Internet security risks. Remember that banks will not contact you for personal information in e-mails and make sure you are utilizing secure websites for any on-line transactions. Software to protect against spyware and viruses is important to keep these items from being downloaded to your computer. Please contact us immediately if you believe you have fallen victim to someone "phishing" for your personal information.
